People working in the essential industries afford us the luxury of being able to stay home and social distance knowing that we can still get food from grocery stores, get packages delivered, and go to the doctor if needed. Without these industries and their employees still working, the rest of the country could not maintain some semblance of a typical life during this health crisis.

This is a brief introduction to my podcast series. I talk about my takeaways from this experience and why I wanted to do this for my final project. This podcast also includes a response from each one of the people I interviewed to my question: how can we better prepare for another pandemic?

Episode 1: Interview with an invasive cardiologist

This is an interview with an invasive cardiologist who is working at the front lines of this crisis. Listen for more if you want to hear about his experience treating and protecting patients during this time. He answers questions about how to manage stress and help medical facilities from home.

Being healthy and young person, I still fear to get COVID-19 but not to the extent his patients do. These individuals are the most perceptible to getting the virus, as many of them have preconditions like heart failure and diabetes. These individuals put their lives in the hands of the surgeon, knowing that if they do contract the virus it’ll be harder for them to recover. This doctor finds ways to make them feel more comfortable and relaxed in the chaos of this outbreak.


In this episode, we talk with the person that's in charge of delivery and shipment of products for a small business. He talks about the challenge of transitioning the business to an online platform and gives insight into what is like trying to obtain small business loans so that they can pay employees and keep operations still running.

This was an interview with a grocery store cashier. Listen for more if you want to hear about her experience with anxious shoppers and how she stays safe during the coronavirus. She answers questions about what precautions her employers have made and further steps that need to be taken to protect her safety.

This is an interview with a local paramedic/firefighter. In this podcast, you got to hear about extra safety precautions this public service has been making to limit the spread of corona. He also talks about how he's had to limit contact with his family members because of his job.

This was an interview with a hospice nurse. Listen for more if you want to hear about how she experience helping people during there last phase of life. She answers questions about how she facilitates daily care and provides comfort to anxious patients during this pandemic.
